Slade Cournoyer

Slade is a current sophomore and plans on becoming a physical therapist at an IHS (Indian Health Service) branch. This will be a fantastic career for him, as sports are one of his passions. In high school, he made it to state in 3 different sports (baseball, basketball, and football) all while maintaining a 4.0+ GPA every year. He even won the state football championship his senior year. He did all of this while having to make a difficult transfer because of the isolation that COVID brought. He credits his success and resilience to his parents who taught him to always have a positive attitude and good heart and to push himself at whatever he does while remaining humble. During his senior year, he was a finalist for the prestigious Spirit of Sioux award that recognizes athletes with high regard for community and academics.
