Arvish Bhinder

Arvish Bhinder is currently a freshman at Creighton University. Arvish was awarded South Dakota’s Best and Brightest Student of the Year in 2020. Being raised by a father who is a nurse’s assistant and a mother who is a science teacher, Arvish wants to follow in the footsteps of her parents and become a neurologist, treating patients with Alzheimer’s and Tay-Sach’s disease. Many of her peers assume that Arvish’s academic achievements come from being naturally gifted and intelligent; in actuality, her success comes from intense hardwork and dedication. Because of her obsessive-compulsive disorder, she often strives for perfectionism and a standard that most people cannot reach, which leads her to over-exert herself and sometimes even skip basic health requirements such as eating. Arvish tries to stay conscious of her mental health and take necessary time for self care. An obstacle she has recently been dealt with is paying for college - Arvish has applied for several scholarship opportunities and has received several rejections; nevertheless, she has learned the value of resilience and encourages herself to press on.
