Students who are awarded with a scholarship from the Rosebud Scholarship Fund are held to a high standard of excellence. This pledge acknowledges the key goal of a college education: choice. It also highlights their continued responsibility to their home reservation.
In the Lakota language, there are male and female endings to sentences. When a male is speaking, sentences end in yeló, and when a female is speaking sentences end in kštó. So, our male and female students will be signing different pledges. This language is extremely unique, and only a few thousand speak it in the world.
